From the Principals
Welcome to a crazy COVID school year!  Last year we were cut short with the closing of the schools due to the pandemic and as parents, you stepped up and helped us immensely!!  We appreciate you helping with the packets, getting your children online for our SchoolsPLP curriculum and taking on the new role as "teacher".  We know if wasn't easy and we applaud your efforts!
This year, our goals are:
  • Not only to have all students proficient in Reading and Math as measured by our MAP scores, but to be a 4-star school
  • Have all students show at least one year's growth as measured by the MAP and STAR assessments
  • Increase our overall, school wide kindness and the way we treat each other.
In order to achieve these goals here’s what WE plan to do:

  • Frequently monitor your child's progress and give him/her specific and timely feedback. With the information we receive from the MAP, STAR and teacher created assessments, we will adjust your child's curriculum so s/he is getting exactly what is needed!
  • Focus on the new Common Core Standards that are specific and important in each grade level. Teachers will meet regularly, during collaboration Mondays, to interpret data and make necessary changes for each and every student.
  • Keep our schools as clean as possible and respond to situations that arise as quickly as possible in order to help keep your child well.  We will stress the Whole Brain Teaching (WBT) Character Traits, (Glorious Kindness, Positive Leadership, Selfless Courage, Invisible Grit and Brainy Creativity) as well as the WBT rules:  Rule 1 Follow directions quickly.  Rule 2 Raise your hand for permission to speak.  Rule 3 Raise your hand for permission to leave your seat.  Rule 4 Make smart choices and Rule 5 Make your Learning Community Stronger with the Diamond rule being Keep your eyes on the target!
In order to achieve the above listed goals, here’s what we ask YOU to do:
  • Get your child to school each and every day when it's possible. Use our qualified and knowledgeable nurse, Mrs. Salazar and her assistant, Mrs. Craig to help answer health questions
  • Be interested in what your child is learning each and every day. Go through the weekly BMES folder to make sure you're getting the information you need!
  • Read to and with your child every night! Just making your child go into the bedroom and read isn't enough. You need to participate! Read a paragraph and let him/her read a paragraph or you can read to your child one one and let him/her read to you the other night
Thank you, in advance for your support and participation in your child's education!

Philosophy Statement
All students can learn given appropriate instruction and enough practice at home and school. All staff believe that positive and open communication with parents and the community about school functions, policies and procedures and involvement in the education process is meaningful and rewarding and needs to be maintained. Students and staff will achieve their highest potential academically, physically and mentally without undue stress. There will be cooperation among all school employees founded upon respect for each other's point of view and recognition of the common goal for educating children.
